Tarquini holds off BMWs in race 2

Gabriele Tarquini claimed SEAT's first World Touring Car Championship win of the season in the second race at Zandvoort

The Italian, starting from second on the reverse top-eight grid after finishing seventh in race one, held off the fast-starting BMW of Augusto Farfus off the line to run second behind defending champion Andy Priaulx in the early stages.

Tarquini attempted to pass Priaulx on the inside of Turn 6 on lap two, but despite making contact the SEAT driver was able to take the lead while Priaulx slipped down the order to fifth.

Despite constant pressure from Farfus, Tarquini held on to take a well-measured win in greasy conditions. Despite being quicker than Tarquini, Farfus was happy to settle for second to take the championship lead.

Farfus's Schnitzer Motorsport teammate Jorg Muller completed the podium after making a stunning getaway from 10th on the grid. Muller scythed between the Chevrolets of Alain Menu and Nicola Larini, which had dominated race one, to run fifth on the first lap.

He then took advantage of Priaulx's clash with Tarquini on lap two to take fourth before passing independent class winner Luca Rangoni's Proteam Motorsport BMW 320si on lap four.

Larini put in a superb drive to go from seventh on the first lap to finish fourth ahead of Priaulx, who slipped ahead of Rangoni with two laps to go.

Independent runner-up Roberto Colciago finished seventh for SEAT Sport Italia, one place ahead of Felix Porteiro, who claimed his first WTCC point for ROAL-run BMW Team Italy-Spain.
