Jorg Muller takes first win of 2008
Jorg Muller scored his first victory of the season in today's first World Touring Car Championship race at Brands Hatch
The German won from fifth on the grid after misfortune struck the other frontrunners.
Muller's teammate, polesitter Augusto Farfus, retired from the race on the first lap after colliding with Alain Menu at Druids. Farfus was then hit by Nicola Larini and clouted the tyre wall.
The accident also removed Menu from the equation at the front and handed the lead to Rob Huff from Jorg Muller, Yvan Muller and Andy Priaulx.
Huff was set for victory on home soil until three laps from the end when he was robbed by a puncture, handing Muller the top spot.
Yvan Muller boosted his championship chances by finishing second while his main rival Gabriele Tarquini could only manage seventh.
Andy Priaulx was the highest placed Briton on home soil in third, with James Thompson 10th and Rob Huff falling to 21st from third on the grid.
Robert Dahlgren's impressive display in the Volvo C30 was cut short when he was shoved off at Druids by former long-time time Volvo driver Rickard Rydell.
