Huisman replaces Costa
Dutchman Duncan Huisman is to replace Marcel Costa in the BMW Team Italy-Spain line-up for the rest of the World Touring Car Championship season
Costa has had a poor start to the season with the satellite BMW squad, with only a pair of 11th-place finishes on record in eight starts.
With a need for the team to score points, Huisman has been drafted in with an impressive touring car pedigree. He won the final WTCC round of last season in a privateer BMW in Macau, his only WTCC round to date. He has also won the Dutch championship three times.
The 34-year-old will link-up with the team for the first time this week at the Adria Raceway in Italy for a seat fitting and a test in the car.
"I am very happy to be able to welcome Duncan to our team," said team boss Roberto Ravaglia. "He will add a lot of Touring Car experience to the team. That is why I am convinced he will be a great help in ideally utilising the potential of the car."
Huisman will continue to drive in the Swedish Touring Car Championship when his WTCC commitments allow.
