Huff, Menu test new Cruze at Valencia

Rob Huff and Alain Menu put the new 1.6-litre Chevrolet Cruze through two days of testing at Valencia this week

Both drivers declared themselves happy with the early signs of the 2011 car's competitiveness, covering 500km each with no reliability trouble.

"It was very important for me to get some decent mileage under my belt, understand better how the new engine works and how to drive it," Huff said. "The balance of the car is different so we looked into different chassis set-up options, as you would normally do during winter testing.

"I am glad the car reacts well to changes and am now looking forward to some more testing days in Barcelona next week."

Menu added: "We concentrated our work on what we call the driveability, or better said how to get the engine power and torque on the track keeping the front tyres within their limits.

"We ended up reviewing quite a few options. We now need to go through all the data and see how we can progress things for the up coming tests."

Chevrolet will continue its pre-season testing programme at Barcelona next week, where it will be joined by the SUNRED SEATs and Polestar Volvo.

The BMWs of ROAL Motorsport, Team Engstler and Proteam Motorsport are scheduled to test at Vallelunga in early February.
