Farfus wins second race in Puebla

Augusto Farfus Jr completed an impressive weekend for both him and his N Technology Alfa Romeo team by winning the second World Touring Car Championship Race in Puebla, Mexico

Farfus, who started seventh after finishing second in the first race, worked his was up to second in the early laps, before passing Alfa teammate Gianni Morbidelli at mid-distance.

Unlike his other teammate in today's earlier race, Salvatore Tavano, it appeared as if Morbidelli pulled over to let his championship-chasing teammate through.

Farfus Jr then pulled away to take victory by 1.4 second from Morbidelli, to score their second 1-2 finish at the circuit today.

The Brazilian's race results today have vaulted him up from ninth to joint second in the championship standings, level with reigning champion Andy Priaulx.

"It was a dream for me today," Farfus Jr said. "I had a fantastic car so it was impossible to have a better day than this.

"I did a very good start and then I just managed to overtake the guys infront of me. I have to thank everybody, and thanks to Gianni for a very good team job."

Rickard Rydell finished a distant third for SEAT ahead of Dirk Muller, who scored the best result of the weekend for the BMW, which like last year, struggled on the Mexican circuit.

James Thompson consolidated his championship lead with fifth place ahead of the top independent runner Tom Coronel.

After starting the race last, reigning champion Andy Priaulx completed a strong drive by working his way up to finish seventh at the chequered flag.
