Kouvola European Rallycross: Liam Doran fastest on day one
British driver Liam Doran heads the field after day one of the European Rallycross Championship at a baking hot day Kouvola in Finland
Doran was fastest in the first heat and third fastest in the second heat to seal his position at the top of the table overnight.
Second is American racer Tanner Foust, who makes his first visit to the championship since taking victory at round one in England. He finished second and fourth in the first two heats respectively.
Former World Rally Championship star Petter Solberg has been fast all day. A close battle with fellow Norwegian Andreas Bakkerud in heat one slowed the pair slightly, although Solberg just stole the race victory to set fifth fastest time.
Fastest time overall in heat two pulled the Citroen DS3 driver into third position at the end of the day.
Toomas Heikkinen is top Finnish driver at the close of play on day one, sitting in fourth overall on his first visit to the championship since 2011.
Compatriot Jussi-Petteri Leppihalme did not have such a good time - 12th fastest in heat one was followed by a close contest in heat two, only to suffer mechanical problems on the last lap.
He lies 15th, but two places better off than Brian Deegan, who had a puncture in heat one before getting involved with a battle with local driver Atro Maatta in heat two, slowing them both.
Swedish driver Stig-Olov Walfridsson was involved in a close battle with Finnish newcomer Toni Lukander in race two, ending his day in the barrier and giving his Helmia Motorsports team work to do overnight.
Erik Faren heads the Super1600 order after two heats, while Irish driver Derek Tohill ends day one leading the TouringCar category.
