Suzuki happy despite engine drama

Suzuki driver Sebastian Lindholm is not expecting the engine problem that struck the new SX4 car on Thursday to affect the team again this weekend

The Finn decided not to drive his car back to the service park during this morning's shakedown after the car's water temperature went up.

Suzuki have had to change the engine in the car, but Lindholm is confident that the problem was just a one-off.

"We had a good day, but we had a small water temperature problem," Lindholm told autosport.com. "That is why we didn't bring the car back to service, but it's fine now.

"We've never had that problem before, so I don't think it will be a problem again this weekend."

Lindholm was pleased with his runs through the shakedown stage on Thursday, but he added that due to the tricky conditions he will have to be careful if he is to finish the rally.

"The feeling I had with the car was the same as it has been in testing, so that is a good thing," he added. "Usually the shakedown stage is not representative of the rest of the rally, but it is here.

"We cannot push 100 per cent because we will go off. Maybe if it was dry we could really push, but it is more important to finish the rally."

Lindholm, who is Marcus Gronholm's cousin, added that pace was not a crucial part of Suzuki's programme this weekend.

"It's not the times that teach us things about the car," he said. "It's about what I feel, and what the engineers see on the data."
