SS16, Ouninpohja 1: Harri flatters
Harri Rovanpera took another 8.3s out of Peugeot team mate Marcus Gronholm's overall lead with a stunning run through the longest stage of the rally, the 34.11km Ouninpohja 1
Rovanpera is now just 10.2s behind Gronholm in the overall standings, having already clawed back just over 20 seconds of his fellow Finn's overnight advantage. Richard Burns remains third overall, but a bad tyre vibration on this stage has dropped the Subaru team leader to 20.9s behind Gronholm in the lead.
Colin McRae's third fastest time on the stage has brought him within spitting distance of a podium place. The Scot is 10.5s away from lifting third place from under Burns's nose.
Mitsubishi's Toni Gardemeister and Ford's Francois Delecour were fourth and fifth quickest as each tries to clamber back up the order after their opening day problems. They are now up to 14th and 16th respectively.
Carlos Sainz was sixth fastest again ahead of Sebastian Lindholm's Peugeot, Markko Martin's Subaru, Juuso Pykalisto's Toyota and Burns. Pykalisto's continuing run of good times has moved him up to 9th place overall, at the expense of Alister McRae, who is down to 10th.
Former World Champion Juha Kankkunen's comeback run is over. Brake and engine damage to the veteran Finn's Hyundai Accent after a heavy landing spelled early bath time for Kankkunen.
