SSS 18 Killeri 2: Gronholm in front

Marcus Gronholm ensured there were no slip-ups on the final stage of the second leg, finishing the Super Special 2.06km Killeri 2 stage at the top of the timesheets

The Finn was the only competitor to break the sub 1m21s barrier, stopping the clocks in his Peugeot 206 WRC at 1m20.3s. The reigning world champion takes a 14.2s lead over team mate Harri Rovanpera into Sunday's final three stages.

Petter Solberg was first equal with Carlos Sainz on the Super Special on Friday evening, but on Saturday he had settle for second - this time sharing with legend Markku Alen in the Ford Focus.

Richard Burns, currently third overall, fourth on the stage, did finish higher than rival Colin McRae, but the difference was less than a second. McRae was equal seventh with Rovanpera - so the Subaru star has a 3.7-second advantage over the Scot at the end of the second day as those two battle it out for that possible podium place.

Sainz was the fastest works Ford on the Super Special with the fifth fastest time - only four tenths slower than the stage winning time he set on Friday. Markko Martin in the last of the Subarus rounds out the top six, as he tries to close the 25-second gap between himself and McRae.
