SS15, Leustu: Harri ups the pressure
Harri Rovanpera set his fourth fastest stage time of the 2001 Rally Finland as he stormed through the 23.58km Leustu a full five seconds quicker than anyone else. Rovanpera is now in second place again, as Richard Burns slips to third in the Subaru
Colin McRae's Ford was again the Peugeots' closest challenger, third fastest and now up ahead of Markko Martin overall, though the Scot was none too happy. "We made few mistakes - not a good run," said Colin.
Martin had a troubled stage in the Subaru. The Impreza lost power after a heavy landing and then the Estonian damaged its rear suspension later in the stage. All that meant a time 18.1s off Rovanpera's and another drop in the overall standings, to fifth, for Martin. "It's a bit of a disaster," he admitted.
Burns was fourth quickest 2.3s slower than McRae. The Englishman is now third 1.5s behind Rovanpera and 17.9s ahead of McRae.
Francois Delecour set fifth fastest time in his Focus ahead of his team mate Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard continues to hold station in sixth place overall half a minute behind Martin and half a minute ahead of Petter Solberg, who could only manage 12th fastest on Leustu.
Toni Gardemeister was seventh fastest for Mitsubishi ahead of Sebastian Lindholm, Martin and Juuso Pykalisto in the Toyota Corolla.
Alister McRae continues to hold down ninth place overall for Hyundai, though Pykalisto is now only 6 seconds behind, the Scot measuring his performance in relation to Hyundai team mate Kankkunen. "Three seconds slower than Juha - not quite good enough," said McRae Jr after Leustu.
