Solberg backs super-special trip
Petter Solberg has expressed his support for the idea to start Rally Argentina 400 miles from the base of the event
The rally will begin on Thursday with a super-special stage held in the River Plate football stadium in Buenos Aires, while the rally is actually based near to Cordoba.
Reigning champion Sebastien Loeb has admitted that he has reservations about travelling so far for one short stage, but Solberg believes that it is a good idea.
"I think our trip to River Plate stadium is very important for the sport," said the 2003 champion.
"It will give many people an idea of what is going to happen up in Cordoba, and some of them might not have seen rallying before."
Last year the event featured a super-special stage in Cordoba's football stadium, and this stage will also be used this year on the Friday and Sunday of the event.
Solberg believes that the short stages that allow for thousands of spectators to see the cars in action adds to the spectacle of the South American event.
"I'm sure Argentina will be a very exciting rally, especially with the changing weather and the super-specials," he said
