Skoda Boss Slams Performance
Skoda Motorsport boss Martin Muehlmeier has slammed his team's performance in Rally Argentina, demanding that it is not repeated in the next two events
The rally was the Czech manufacturer's third successive non-points finish.
Armin Schwarz was the best placed Skoda, bringing home his Fabia in 16th, after a broken strut mount lost him ten minutes in Leg One. Teammate Jani Paasonen's retired on SS5 when he hit a rock and damaged his steering.
Muehlmeier described the performance as unacceptable and demanded more from the whole team for the next two events, where the championship returns to Europe.
Muehlmeier said: "Although our inexperience in Argentina meant that this was not a key event for us, we again performed below our potential.
"I will not accept a similar result in Finland or Germany which are two of our most important events.
"From last year we know what the Fabia WRC can do on those rallies. Everyone knows what is expected of them."
Schwarz defended his driving, saying: "Without our problems on the first day I'm sure we could have got a decent result and some points. But I am happy to finally have finished a rally that has never been kind to me."
The team has again nominated Schwarz and Paasonen for Finland, with Janne Tuohino driving a third car.
