Service G - Ajaccio: Rain and pain
Jesus Puras (Citroen) - rally leader: "It was difficult when I found the wet conditions; I was trying to adjust the differentials and the brakes. Sometimes it was dry, sometimes slippery and sometimes raining. But it is OK, I am still in front."
(Peugeot) - second, +15.9s: "It was raining just after the start of those three and it was very slippery."
(Peugeot) - third, +33.8s: "About 5 seconds before the start of the first stage it started to rain like hell. All I could do was try my best."
(Ford) - fourth, +1m53.8s: "I had the hard compound tyres like Petter (Solberg) and it was hard to keep the car under control."
(Subaru) - fifth, +1m58.3s: "The first time I put on a harder compound tyre it started to rain! The last stage was a little better but I didn't have the confidence after the first two."
(Subaru) - sixth, +2m46.3s: "I think I have a problem with the seat position. My back hurts when I hit the brake pedal and I think that I may have blacked out a couple of times. The middle stage was really difficult, I had some bad pace notes and it was slippery and we had some really big moments. There was one fifth gear corner downhill and we were very lucky it was one of the dry corners."
(Ford) - seventh, +3m07.6s: "The car and the tyres seem to be working better than for the other guys. If we could take as much time out of them as we did on SS8, we would be OK."
(Subaru) - eighth, +3m41.1s: "I lost between 10-15secs at the hairpin on SS8. I pulled the handbrake but we did a 360 degree spin."
Other news is that Armin Schwarz has retired the Skoda with transmission problems, Freddy Loix has reported that the Mitsubishi's understeer is now better and Neil Wearden has lost time after the bolt on his suspension link broke when he hit a small rock. Richard Burns is being treated by the team' s physio for a headache.
Niall McShea suffered a broken driveshaft one kilometre from the end of SS9 and is coming under pressure to maintain fourth place in the S1600 battle.
