Reid wants Corsica podium

Robert Reid, co-driver to WRC world champion Richard Burns, says he's hoping for at least a podium place in the upcoming asphalt rounds in Corsica and Spain this month

The Scot says the testing he and Burns have put in since the Swedish Rally leads him to believe Burns will be fighting for at least third place on this week's Tour de Corse.

"We've done a lot of work in the lead up to this event, which has been encouraging for us," Reid said on his website, robertreid.co.uk. "With greater knowledge of the car and the changes which we can make, we're going into Corsica feeling quite happy.

"As far as my own expectations go, I'd like to think that we can be on the podium here, and well up in Spain."

Rivals Ford have said they are hoping for rain in Corsica so that the Peugeot/Michelin combination doesn't have quite the advantage it is expected to on the French asphalt. However, Reid thinks that the weather won't have a great affect on the outcome of the rally.

"The unpredicatable element of the rally could be the weather due to the change of dates," added Reid. "It might not be as settled, but we had rain on the final day last year so I don't think it's going to make a massive difference."

Burns just missed out on a podium in Sweden when he failed to catch Carlos Sainz, despite pushing the Spaniard hard on the final day.
