Martin cleared to drive
Ford's Markko Martin has been given the go-ahead to get back behind the wheel following his horrific smash at the Rally Argentina earlier this month
Martin and co-driver Michael Park walked away from their wrecked Ford WRC but were both taken to hospital for precautionary checks. Martin stayed overnight in the local hospital after complaining of blurred vision while Park was released.
The Estonian has since passed a series of checks in London and was expected to take part in the team's Rally Finland test this week. It is not yet clear whether he will race in this weekend's warm-up Pirelly Rally event in Finland, Martin delayed making a decision until he had taken his first drive.
"I feel my sight has improved a little but I'll only really know when I get behind the wheel again," he told Autosport. "The thing is to have a drive and see how it feels. Then we'll make a decision about the weekend. It's an important test."
The Rally Finland kicks off on Friday August 6.
