Latvala wants points for team
Jari-Matti Latvala hopes that his efforts in Saturday's first loop of stages could make a difference in the manufacturers' championship
The Finn is currently 12th in the overall standings, but he is on course for one point in the manufacturers' championship because several cars ahead of him are not registered for that championship.
Latvala's Stobart Ford team went into this weekend one point ahead of Subaru in the manufacturers' standings, and at the moment both Imprezas are ahead of him and Henning Solberg in the rally.
However, Latvala, who won all three stages on Saturday morning, will keep pushing in case Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson hit problems.
"It's a shame what happened to us yesterday," he said. "We had to stop five times in the stage. We had problems with the lights, then the wipers.
"Now we have to keep going and hope that we can pick up some manufacturers' points. It's a very close fight, so if the Subarus have a problem it could still work out.
"This championship was our main target for this weekend, so we want those points."
The Finn believes that part of the reason for his impressive stage times on Saturday was his position on the road.
"The car was perfect this morning, and it's good to be running third on the road today," he said. "The grip levels on the road were good, because the roads didn't have ruts yet. I had a nice feel with the car."
