Gronholm wary of Burns threat
World Rally Championship leader Marcus Gronholm has highlighted his team-mate Richard Burns as his main title rival this year, with Acropolis Rally winner Colin McRae chasing the heels of the two Peugeot drivers
Gronholm's closest challenger in the championship is Carlos Sainz, who is 14 points behind the Finn following his win in Argentina and third place in Greece last weekend, but Gronholm still thinks the two British drivers will be the main championship contenders come the end of the year.
"My main rivals are going to be Richard and Colin for the title this year," Gronholm told AUTOSPORT's sister title Motorsport News. "I would say Richard a little bit more, because there are still some asphalt rallies to run - and Ford struggles a little there. But at the same time we still have rallies where Colin is very fast."
In the post-Acropolis Rally press conference McRae quipped that Gronholm should take a holiday instead of going to next month's Safari Rally in Kenya, but the Scot is hopeful he can continue his good run of form in the tough African event.
"It means something to share the record for the most World Rally Championship wins," said McRae. "But championship points are the main thing. It's still quite a gap to Marcus, but the good thing is we've got the Safari next and it's an event we should do very well on."
