Gronholm not chasing victory yet
Marcus Gronholm is not trying to win Rally GB at the moment, as it will make no difference to his championship chances while Sebastien Loeb is third
The Finn's countryman and teammate Mikko Hirvonen dominated the first day of the event in Wales, as he took more risks than most in the awful conditions.
But Gronholm is not concerned about his gap to the rally leader, as he feels there is no need for him to be leading at the moment.
"For the moment I don't need to win this rally, so I don't take any risks," said Gronholm. "Today was ok, nothing special.
"It was difficult, and there is no need to take risks to win the rally. We can go faster, but it's not so easy with the mud."
Gronholm has a gap of nearly 20 seconds back to Loeb after the first day of the event, but he said that he is not interested in the times while Loeb is still in a championship-winning position.
"Ok, we are faster than Sebastien, but nothing's changed," he said. "At the moment I don't know who I am battling with, we just need to wait and look at what he is doing."
