Gronholm: Norway recce is crucial
Marcus Gronholm believes that the reconnaissance runs prior to Rally Norway will be absolutely vital for the new event
The majority of the WRC field has no knowledge of the stages for the event, and Gronholm believes that the drivers will be starting on a level playing field next weekend.
"The only things I know about the stages are what I've been told, but I'm not alone in that," said the Ford driver.
"We all have two passes during the recce to learn them as well as we can. We have to be extremely precise during the recce.
"It will be important to be 100 per cent accurate when we make the notes during the first pass so that we can check them during the second time through."
Gronholm is looking forward to the event though, which comes just one week after Rally Sweden, where he was victorious.
"I enjoy winter rallies so I'm looking forward to Norway," he said. "There are virtually no drivers with previous experience of these roads. Even Petter Solberg does not know much about them and he is Norwegian!"
