Burns feeling more comfortable in 206

Reigning World Champion Richard Burns says he's closer to finding the ideal seating position in his Peugeot 206WRC after completing his first test on gravel in the French car

Since his move from Subaru at the end of last year, Burns hadn't quite felt under braking in the 206WRC, feeling he was sitting too high up in the car and his legs were not straight enough. Despite this, the Englishman still managed to score his first points in just his second outing for the team, finishing fourth on the Swedish Rally.

However, for a three-day gravel test in Chateau Lastours in France, his engineers managed to lower his seating position by 40mm, leaving Burns happy with the results.

"I am sitting as low as Robert now, and it has made a significant difference," Burns told AUTOSPORT's sister title Motorsport News. "It feels like I am more sat in the car than on top of it."

Burns said the adverse conditions in France meant that he wasn't able to properly evaluate how the 206 felt on his first gravel outing, but seemed content with car's performance.

"They weren't the greatest conditions to draw any handling conclusions," he said. "But what I can say is that I drove flat out all the time I was there and I didn't manage to break it."
