Ford delighted with Dani Sordo's performance on Rally Argentina
Ford motorsport chief Gerard Quinn said Dani Sordo was delivering exactly what the team had hoped for as the Spaniard completed his first morning in a Fiesta RS WRC in third place on Rally Argentina, 10 seconds ahead of eight-time world champion Sebastien Loeb
Sordo has joined Ford in a one-off agreement for the Villa Carlos Paz-based event following Jari-Matti Latvala's skiing injury, and impressed from the outset by setting third quickest - and fastest Ford - time on Thursday's qualifying stage.
"I'm very impressed with his attitude," said Quinn. "But I don't think this is anything we wouldn't have expected from a driver of his standing in the championship.
"He's come here after a day in the car and done very well on the stages. I'm confident that the speed and maturity he is showing will return us some good manufacturer points.
"The way he has adapted to the team and the car has been really good. He's just got his head down and got the job done.
"The one thing you notice when these guys come in is that they have the respect of the team - the engineers know what they're all about and there's a mutual respect between them immediately. That's really important for the team and the way this event is working for Dani and for us."
Petter Solberg currently leads the rally in the sister Ford.
