Ogier rolls out in Resolfen
Sebastien Ogier's impressive run in the Rally GB has ended after the Junior champion rolled his Ciroen C4 WRC in today's first stage
The Frenchman had stunned his rivals by leading the first three stages on his debut in a World Rally Car, but slipped back to eighth by the end of day one following a gearbox problem.
He then rolled approximately two kilometres from the end of Resolfen this morning. Following crews report that both Ogier and co-driver Julien Ingrassia are unhurt, but that they have had to retire from today's leg.
Privateer Subaru driver Mads Ostberg, who had run second to Ogier early on, also hit trouble in Resolfen.
The 21-year-old started the day challenging Suzuki's Per-Gunnar Andersson for third place, only to suffer an engine problem in today's first stage. Although he reached the finish, Ostberg's car was losing a significant amount of oil and the Norwegian believes he will now have to retire.
Jari-Matti Latvala (Ford) continues to lead, but is now under pressure from Dani Sordo after an astonishing time from the Citroen number two in Resolfen saw him leap from sixth to second and close to within 0.8 seconds of Latvala.
Sordo's team leader Sebastien Loeb is third, and has also closed on Latvala, completing SS9 just five seconds adrift.
