Stages shortened due to bad weather
The amount of competitive stage mileage on the opening day of the Rally GB has been significantly reduced due to adverse weather conditions in Wales
All eight scheduled Friday stages will still run, but the three full-length stages (which will all be used twice) will be shortened, with only part of the planned distance used as a timed stage.
The most significant reduction is to the Hafren stage (SS1 and SS4), which comes down from 19.1 kilometres to 3.67 kilometres, while SS3/SS6 Myherin is almost halved in length (only 18.28 of the scheduled 35.34 kilometres will be timed).
SS2/SS4 Sweet Lamb sees little alteration, changing from 5.11 to 4.28 kilometres, and the end of day superspecial at the Walters Arena is unaffected except for being rescheduled for 23 minutes later than originally planned.
Wintry weather has swept the United Kingdom in recent days, with snow, ice and heavy rain all seen in Wales during the build-up.
The conditions have already caught out world champion Sebastien Loeb, who crashed his recce car on a frosty section in Myherin earlier in the week.
