Manlleu service: A final word...

(Citroen), leader: "I took the most risks in the last two stages. I was totally flat-out - I couldn't have gone any faster. I had a puncture in one of this afternoon's stages, but the ATS [tyre mousse] cut in and worked perfectly. I've been in this position before, though. I just hope I can get back to Lloret to have dinner." Puras was refering to the 1999 Catalunya event, when his Xsara kit-car led after leg one, but failed to start in parc ferme the next day.

(Citroen), second overall, +8.7s: "It was a good day for me and for Citroen."

(Mitsubishi), fifth overall, +24.1s: "I think we had a problem in the cooling system in the last three stages, because we had overheating in the brakes. It cost a lot of time, but I'm not sure what we could do about the Citroens and Peugeots anyway."

(Mitsubishi), sixth overall, +51.5s: "We've changed all the mapping in the front differential and my front tyre wear is a lot less as a result. This will be very important for tomorrow's abrasive stages."

(Ford), eighth overall, +1m07.9s: The Frenchman had to push his car into the final service and reported that he'd had to try starting the car twice on the startline of SS5 - the stage on which Colin McRae retired with fuel pressure problems. "I very nearly ended up the same as Colin."

, co-driver to (Ford), ninth overall, +1m11.5s: "We had problems with fuel pumps or filters this afternoon. We had problems with them on the road section back to the final service."

Ford has decided that its handling and grip problems are not due to the tyre compounds used, but due to the constructions being overly stiff. The two remaining Focus cars will be fitted with Pirellis with softer sidewalls tomorrow.

(Skoda), 11th overall, +1m25.0s: The Belgian suffered from brake problems at the front this morning, but a shift of the balance to the rear appeared to improve the situation.

(Subaru), 15th overall, +1m51.3s: "On the fifth stage we had a puncture caused by a broken wheel. But we've lost too much time already. The best I can hope for is a point."

(Hyundai), 16th overall, +1m51.4s: Fan problems put the water temperature up in the afternoon's stages, but the Scot reported no real problems.
