Shanghai WEC: Ex-F1 racer Mark Webber leads Porsche practice 1-2

Mark Webber recorded the fastest time of the day in the #17 Porsche 919 Hybrid with a 1m45.111s in the second 90-minute session, which put him over two tenths up on team-mate Neel Jani in the sister car.

The two Audi R18 e-tron quattros filled positions three and four in the Friday times, Andre Lotterer's 1m45.707s from the morning session edging the afternoon best from Oliver Jarvis by just over a tenth.

The best time from Toyota, a 1m47.373s set by Mike Conway aboard the #8 TS040 HYBRID, again left the Japanese manufacturer more than two seconds off the pace.

The KCMG ORECA squad, which is attempting to overturn a 12-point deficit in the LMP2 standings over the last two WEC rounds, was fastest in class in both sessions.

Nick Tandy's afternoon best of 1m54.195s put him a tenth up on the Signatech Alpine ORECA-Nissan 03R driven by P2 newcomer Tom Dillmann.

The points-leading G-Drive Racing Ligier-Nissan JSP2 set only the sixth fastest time of the day with a 1m55.146s from Sam Bird in the morning.

James Calado led the way in GTE Pro for the AF Corse Ferrari team on a 2m03.028s, which put him nine tenths up on team-mate Toni Vilander.

Aston Martin Racing driver Fernando Rees was only four hundredths behind in the best of the Vantage GTEs, while GTE Pro points leader Richard Lietz's Manthey Porsche was fifth.

The fastest lap posted in GTE Am SMP Racing Ferrari squad a 2m04.527s set by Viktor Shaitar.
