Sebastien Loeb's team to remain in the ELMS

Sebastien Loeb's sportscar team will remain in the European Le Mans Series this year alongside its move into the FIA GT Series with the World Rally legend

Sebastien Loeb's team to remain in the ELMS

Loeb will share a McLaren MP4-12C with Alvaro Parente in the GT1 World Championship's successor this season, but is also continuing his prototype operation.

Team manager Dominique Heintz said SLR's priority was getting a Le Mans 24 Hours entry for its LMP2 ORECA.

"After getting our feet wet during the 24 Hours of Le Mans test day in 2012, we want to take the next step," said Heintz.

"Competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans is an important goal and to be part of such a legendary race would be a dream come true.

"This logically comes from a participation in a Le Mans series. We chose the European Le Mans Series, an interesting platform that allows LMP2 cars to fight for the overall win.

"To be on track at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with a multiple World Rally champion leading the team, would be unique. The idea of it is very exciting."

Loeb's team ran ex-Peugeot factory drivers Nicolas Minassian and Stephane Sarrazin, plus Nicolas Marroc, in last year's truncated ELMS, and also raced in France's national GT series.
