Porsche Supercup ace Giermaziak joins Greaves' Le Mans/ELMS team

Multiple Porsche Supercup race winner Kuba Giermaziak has completed the Greaves Ligier LMP2 line-up for this year's Le Mans 24 Hours and European Le Mans Series

The 25-year-old Polish driver, who was runner-up in the 2014 Supercup, has been confirmed in the defending ELMS champion team's Ligier-Nissan JSP2 after testing for Greaves Motorsport at the Aragon circuit and then the official ELMS test at Paul Ricard last month.

He will share the car from this weekend's Silverstone series opener with three-time Daytona 24 Hours winner Memo Rojas and reigning World Endurance Championship LMP2 champion Julien Canal in what will be his first season of prototype racing.

Team owner Tim Greaves told Autosport: "We've followed Kuba's career in the Supercup and we are expecting him to make the crossover to prototypes very quickly.

"He's proved his pace already - he was quickest in our Ligier when we tested him at Aragon and Ricard - and he is also very relaxed."

Giermaziak described the drive with Greaves as "a dream come true".

"Driving prototypes was something I have wanted to do since I was a little kid," he said.

"I have everything I need to fight for the championship, with a great team behind me and Memo and Julien to share the cockpit."

Greaves will defend the 2015 ELMS crown claimed by Jon Lancaster, Bjorn Wirdheim and Gary Hirsch with a single car after withdrawing its second entry for a Gibson-Nissan 015S.

The team will also provide technical assistance to the Krohn Racing Ligier.

There is a change to that entry's regular line-up at Silverstone as Olivier Pla is racing for the Ganassi Ford team in the event's WEC round.

Wirdheim will take his place alongside Tracy Krohn and Niclas Jonsson.
