Pescarolo: 'Pole isn't Important'

Team boss Henri Pescarolo is playing down expectations that either of his entries for Jean-Christophe Boullion, Emmanuel Collard and Erik Comas or for Soheil Ayari, Eric Helary and reigning World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb will take tonight's qualifying session by storm.

"Our priority is to win the race rather than just to go for pole position," said the famously conservative four-time Le Mans winner.

Pescarolo has the utmost confidence in his six drivers, though, saying: "I have some of the best drivers out there, all of whom have shone in Formula 3000 at the very least. Last night, our priority was to help Sebastien to settle in and the greasy track conditions made this all the more important. Luckily, I'd already made him practice lapping the circuit on a Playstation."

Loeb said he was thankful for being permitted to be the team's focus, especially as the circuit had been so slippery and it gave him the chance to learn where the puddles form. This wasn't the only thing that impressed him, though. "It's fabulous to be in such a team with such good teammates, but what is most fantastic is all the support that I'm getting everywhere from the fans."

Pescarolo Sport dominated pre-event testing and then last night's qualifying session.
