Pescarolo on Pole for Spa 1000

Pescarolo Sport have claimed the overall pole position for tomorrow's Le Mans Endurance Series opener at the 1000 Kilometres of Spa

The team, led by Jean Christophe Bouillon, claimed LMP1 pole with a lap just two hundredths ahead of Creation Autosportif's Judd-powered car, driven by Nicolas Minassian.

Minassian was philosophical about the close miss: "It's good but disappointing because it's very close. I think we can say that, with the restrictions we have this year [due to the new regulations], we are the best of the rest. The car is good in the wet and it will be good in the dry as well, though it will be more difficult to overtake in the wet."

Behind them the LMP2 pole was taken by RML's MG Lola, just ahead of the Paul Belmondo Racing Courage/Ford, while GT1 honours were claimed by Convers Team's Ferrari 550, ahead of the GT2 class polesitter of the Gruppe M Racing Porsche 996.

The session was affected by inclement weather, which has caused the British Formula Three race to be cancelled, but race organisers are confident that the LMES race will run tomorrow without problem.
