Murray's plans progressing well
Famed Formula One car designer Gordon Murray's plans for his own car company are progressing, with Murray revealing that the first car project will be a prototype sports car
Murray, who told Autosport last August that he was setting up his own company, is planning on designing and building a car capable of racing at the Le Mans 24 hours in the future.
"The first project will be a sports car prototype," Murray confirmed to Autosprint. "We won't limit ourselves just to the design, we also want to produce it. We'll also be at the disposal of the big constructors that want to race at Le Mans."
Murray earned legendary status in F1 as the designer of successful Brabham Formula One cars and the dominant 1988 McLaren MP4/4. His company will also look at road car production.
"I also own the intellectual rights to the city car designed when I was at McLaren," he added. "It's something truly innovative and radical - smaller than a Smart - on which I've been working on for 13 years. I'd be happy to finally see it on a regular production line."
