Minassian: No concerns over reliability

Nicolas Minassian has denied that Peugeot has any serious concerns over reliability, with the leading #2 car the only 908 not to develop a problem in the 16 hours so far

The all-French 908 has been leading the race for the last seven hours, since the #1 car lost four laps with an alternator problem, and has a one-lap cushion over the second and third-placed Audis.

With trouble hitting each of the other three Peugeots in the race - two works and the #4 ORECA machine - the team has ordered the drivers to concentrate on conserving the car.

"I'm never worried," Minassian told AUTOSPORT. "I will only worry when it happens, I don't need to be worried now. I'm just doing my race as best I can, my team-mates are doing the same.

"We are just doing what we've been doing in testing, doing the same routine. We have the instruction to look after the car, so that's what we're doing."

Minassian has just finished a three-hour stint in the #2 car and is pleased with its progress into Sunday morning.

"Our car is running well, we are just looking after it - which is the most important thing," he said. "A problem can happen so quickly. We [Peugeot] have had lots of problems that we didn't have before, even in any test that we've done, so it is a bit of a surprise.

"So now we are looking after the car. And we have enough pace to do that and to react as well if we need to.

"In the night we had a good choice of tyres, the soft works really well with the car. I just did a quadruple stint and it worked really well - we have a bit more of a gap on the Audis, so it's a good thing to have a bit more of a cushion. Fingers crossed, we are just looking after the baby now."
