Meyrick pleased after 'crazy' race
Fourth-placed Andy Meyrick paid tribute to his ORECA team for getting his car to the finish of the Le Mans 24 Hours in fourth place, highest of the petrol-powered cars
The Courage-based chassis suffered the fewest problems of all the petrol LMP1s, overhauling the faster Aston Martins in the second half of the race when the Astons ran into trouble.
"Coming here, obviously a good finish is what you hope for, but it's not what we expected realistically," he told AUTOSPORT. "To finish as the top petrol car was unbelievable, especially since it's my first time here.
"I was lucky because I had two really good team-mates, and the team - they managed me and gave me the opportunity to perform.
"I still don't know 100 per cent what happened to our car [when it was brought in to the garage shortly after 2am] because I was asleep at the time. I think Didier [Andre] might have hit something. They replaced the whole corner, pretty much at the same time as the Peugeot, so apparently it was a bit fraught.
"Apart from that, we had a starter motor issue, but it was amazing how quickly they changed it.
"I've never seen a race like this one. How many engines went in the final hour? It was crazy."
