Loeb aims for track time
Sebastien Loeb says he will use this week's qualifying sessions to get back to grips with his Pescarolo Sport car and the Le Mans circuit, having been more used to rallying during the past 12 months
The double World Rally Champion could not take part in last week's Le Mans 24 Hours official practice day because he was busy driving in the Acropolis Rally. His only recent experience of the car is some practice laps at Le Mans' Bugatti track - the short, closed version of the circuit used in MotoGP.
Loeb made his debut at the Le Mans 24 hours last year but his team retired after 20 hours when Soheil Ayari crashed following a puncture.
"My expectation is just to try to find again my marks in the car because I haven't driven this car for a long time," he told autosport.com. "I just drove a bit last week on the Bugatti track but not on the fast circuit. So I just hope to find my marks again.
"The most important thing is to get a place in the first two or three rows on the grid. It's not a problem for a 24 hours race."
Asked whether he plans to get a lot of running today, Loeb replied: "I don't know. I hope so, but at the moment the wet conditions are not too easy to start with, but I will have to drive.
"I think it's [teammate Franck] Montagny who will try to get the quick laps.
"I hope we can do well. The car is fast, so there's no reason to believe we can't do much. We'll try to concentrate and to do a safe race and we'll see."
