Hour 15: Bentley leads into the light

There's no change at the top of the timesheets at morning breaks over the Circuit de la Sarthe, with Rinaldo Capello's Bentley continuing to run like clockwork ahead of Johnny Herbert's sister machine

As if to show that his Bentley is just as fast - if not faster - than the leading machine, Herbert has been setting some stunning lap-times, including the fastest of the race so far. However, it's debatable whether this was that useful, since the Briton then had to make an extra pit stop to change his fast wearing tyres.

The action remains static in the GTS category, with the remaining Veloqx Prodrive Ferrari fully four laps clear of the chasing Chevrolet Corvette, but the battle for GT honours is proving ultra-intense.

Over the hour Marc Lieb in the Orbit Racing Porsche hunted down and passed Sascha Maassen in Alex Job Racing's similar machine. But with the two separated by less than a lap, it's hard to see this battle settling down any time soon.

Kristensen/Capello/Smith Bentley 237 laps
Brabham/Herbert/Blundell Bentley 235 laps
Pirro/Lehto/Johansson Audi 234 laps
Ara/Magnussen/Werner Audi 229 laps
