Hour 11: Speed and survival

The LMP 675 class has been quietly falling apart, as we approach 03:00 hrs. Not so the Bentleys and the Audis which continue remorselessly into the night. Tom Kristensen is out in the lead Bentley and still pumping in low 3m40s laps. The Audis are generally lapping in the mid to high 3m40s, although the surprising Marco Werner is keeping Stefan Johanssen and David Brabham ahead of him honest

The LMP 675 class leading #29 Reynard Lehman found the gravel earlier on in the hour, in the hands of Jean Luc Maury Laribiere, but recovered and retains the class lead in 19th overall. Gavin Pickering was looking good to mount a challenge in the #24 WR, but some unidentified problem and several spins kept him back in second and 25th overall.

The Veloqx Prodrive Ferraris have proven they lack neither speed nor reliability so far and lead the GTS class cars. Kox, Enge and Davies continue to show the rookie trio of Davidson, Burt and Turner the way. Fingers crossed though, last year the only Prodrive entry made it to the 13th hour as class leader before unexpectedly melting.

The race for the GT class has been tight all night, with the top three all on the same lap. The pressure proved too much for one car, however, when Johnny Mowlem's GT class leading Porsche blew up, handing the rolling honours to the Orbit Racing car piloted by Hindery, Baron and Porsche Junior driver Lieb.
