H8: Audi stretching the lead

Frank Biela continues to enjoy a commanding lead in the 24 Hours of Le Mans as the French classic reaches the one-third distance

The No. 8 Audi driver is engaging in a triple stint, having waved away Marco Werner, to further cement the leading team's two-lap advantage over its nearest rival - Franck Montagny's Pescarolo.

Allan McNish, in the No. 8 Audi, is also storming through a triple stint and has moved up to third after the team's earlier woes.

A determined effort by the Scot and Tom Kristensen has seen the pre-race favourite work its way back from fuel injector problems into podium contention after Jan Lammers's Dome ran into throttle problems.

Stefan Johannson has taken the Racing for Holland car back out on to the track as it continues to circulate in fourth.

The Swiss Spirit Courage team are enjoying an incredible debut and their No. 5 car is currently running fifth overall.

The second Pescarolo has rejoined the race in 37th overall after losing 30 laps and more than 1.5 hours to an electrical problem.

Rally ace Stephane Sarrazin has built a lead of more than two minutes at the head of GT1 in the factory Aston Martin, aided by a messy, fuel-spilling pitstop for the No. 64 Corvette driven by Olivier Beretta.

Third in class is David Brabham in the privately entered Russian Age Racing Aston Martin.

Andy Wallace is back at the controls of the leading LMP2 car. The RML MG-Lola has led since the early stages of the race and is having a solid run in sixth overall.

Lars-Erik Nielsen leads GT2 in the Seikel Porsche ahead of the No.86 Spyker, which is now more than a minute ahead of the Scuderia Ecosse Ferrari now that Andrew Kirkaldy has handed over to Chris Niarchos.
