H12: Lamy extends Aston's GT1 lead
Pedro Lamy has put on a charge to try to pull his No. 009 Aston further ahead of the No. 64 Corvette of Oliver Gavin
Lamy set the fastest lap of the GT1 race - an impressive 3:52.309 - to extend the gap back to Gavin from a minute and a half to more than two minutes in the last hour.
The Portuguese driver is consistently setting quicker laps than Gavin as the race has now passed the halfway point.
The sister Corvette however has had problems, having been pulled into the pits for a three-minute stop-and-go penalty for driving too fast while Max Papis was catching up to the rest of the pack during the last hour's safety car period.
The car remains sixth in class, still being beaten by an impressive run for Luc Alphand's privateer Corvette, which is currently fourth in class.
At the front, the leading No.8 Audi has suffered no ill effects following its gear cluster change at the end of the last hour, and Emanuele Pirro is lapping faster than Eric Helary in the No. 17 Pescarolo.
Pirro ran a short stint on his last stint, just eight laps, before refuelling and changing his tyres.
The gap between the cars is still less than two laps.
Jamie Campbell-Walter had yet more problems in his Creation, needing to pull into the pits to change the starter motor.
The No. 25 Team Barazi Epsilon car of Michael Vergers started smoking ten minutes before the hour, and the Dutchman pulled the car into the pits for repairs.
