Ferrari heading back to la Sarthe

Prodrive will take two of their Ferrari 550 Maranellos to this year's Le Mans 24 Hours, adding a little extra prestige to the world famous race

The British engineering specialist is receiving works backing for its assault of the French classic in June as well as the Sebring 12 Hours, which takes place next month. There will also be a customer programme that should ensure the cars' appearance across in a number of different races.

"Going to Le Mans has always been on the agenda," said project leader George Howard-Chappell in this week's AUTOSPORT, "so we have decided to concentrate on the big races and leave FIA GTs to out future customers.

"Doing Le Mans and Sebring will help us to showcase our product to potential buyers."

The team has retained the services of former touring car champions Alain Menu and Rickard Rydell and is looking to add four more top class drivers to complete the line up.

The full story appears in this week's AUTOSPORT, which is on sale now.
