Dumas, Bernhard join Audi line-up
Former Penske Porsche LMP2 duo Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas have joined Audi's line-up for this year's Le Mans 24 Hours
The pair were among the diesel Audis' main rivals in the American Le Mans Series until both companies pulled out at the end of last season, with Dumas and Bernhard winning the LMP2 class title in both 2007 and 2008, and also scoring nine overall victories.
Audi Motorsport boss Dr Wolfgang Ullrich said he was delighted to bring Bernhard and Dumas, who are now racing for Penske in Grand Am, into his team.
"Without a doubt, Timo and Romain rank among the world's best sportscar drivers," he said.
"We've come to know them in the American Le Mans Series as tough but fair rivals and are pleased that within the group the opportunity now presents itself to have them race for us at Le Mans.
"We're convinced that Timo and Romain will definitely strengthen our driver squad. With victories at the 12-hour race at Sebring, the 24-hour race at Daytona and at the 24-hour race at the Nurburgring under their belts they've already proven their skills as real endurance specialists."
Dumas and Bernhard complete Audi's nine-man factory line-up for Le Mans, joining Allan McNish, Tom Kristensen, Rinaldo Capello, Marco Werner, Mike Rockenfeller, Lucas Luhr and Alexandre Premat.
