Davidson relieved after practice run
Aston Martin new boy Anthony Davidson said he was relieved to get the mandatory 10 laps required for the ACO to allow him to race in this weekend's Le Mans 24 Hours, during difficult weather conditions during first free practice on Wednesday
The former Formula 1 driver, who will share the #008 Lola Aston Martin with Darren Turner and Jos Verstappen, has raced at Le Mans with Prodrive before, but this is his first attempt in the LMP1 class.
"Well I'm relieved that I have done my 10 laps so I can get in the race," said the BBC Radio Five Live commentator. "I think I now just have to do three in the dark.
"The conditions are really tricky. It goes dry, then it gets wet again, so you have to be really careful - but it's mission accomplished for me in some ways.
"It's too early to know where we are overall I think, my fastest lap was my in-lap for example. But it's great to be out there - fantastic."
The #008 Aston was placed in eighth position, five seconds behind Rinaldo Capello's first placed Audi after two hours had been completed of the six hour session.
