Audi's new hybrid Le Mans car leads first World Endurance Championship practice at Spa
Audi dominated the first free practice session for the World Endurance Championship six hour race at Spa Francorchamps with Benoit Treluyer setting the pace in one of the R18 e-tron quattro hybrid cars
The French driver's time of 2m04.434s was not quite matched by compatriot Romain Dumas in the conventional R18 Ultra - which was 0.044 seconds slower. Both times were set early in the 90 minute session.
Rinaldo Capello set the third quickest time before handing over to Tom Kristensen in the second e-tron machine while the Marco Bonanami/Oliver Jarvis Audi Sport North America entered R18 was fourth.
The Rebellion Lolas headed the petrol times, with Andrea Belicchi outpacing Nick Heidfeld's sister car. Both were kept honest by Pescarolo's Judd-powered Dome S102.5, which in the hands of Sebastian Bourdais was seventh quickest.
Jonny Kane was eighth fastest in the Strakka HPD, which ended the session in the barriers at La Source when Nick Leventis locked up going into the hairpin.
The #49 Pecom Racing ORECA-Nissan was quickest in LMP2 in the hands of Soheil Ayari, ahead of Alexander Sims, who impressed on his first outing in the Status Lola Coupe. Third was the Starworks HPD, which features a driving line-up that includes former Le Mans Series champion Stephane Sarrazin and Ryan Dalziel.
Gianmaria Bruni set the GT pace in the AF Corse Ferrari with a time of 2m20.916s. The F458 Italia was four tenths quicker than its nearest rival, Marc Lieb's Felbermayr Porsche.
