TDS Racing switches from ORECA to Morgan for 2014 ELMS

Former European Le Mans Series winners TDS Racing will switch from ORECA to Morgan chassis for its bid to win the championship for a second time in 2014

The French team winners will run a Morgan LMP2 built by Onroak Automotive, the sister company of OAK Racing, in the five-race series and - presuming it gains an entry - the Le Mans 24 Hours in June.

It is making the switch after winning the title with a Nissan-powered ORECA 03 in 2012 and finishing runner-up with the same car last year.

A spokesman for TDS said: "We were happy with ORECA, but OAK had a lot of success with the Morgan last year in the World Endurance Championship and at Le Mans, which convinced us that it was a very good car."

TDS is not commenting on whether it could switch to Onroak's forthcoming Ligier-badged P2 coupe at some point in the season.

The confirmed drivers for the team's 2014 programme so far are Pierre Thiriet, who has raced with the team since 2011, and Ludovic Badey, who drove with TDS in last year's Blancpain Endurance Series and French GT Championship as well as at Le Mans.

A third driver is set to be announced after the release of the Le Mans entry list next Thursday.

TDS joins Morand Racing, a regular with an Judd/BMW-powered entry, and series-returnee Pegasus Racing in running Morgan chassis in the ELMS next season.

The works OAK team is understood to have filed a solo entry for the WEC in 2014 and will also continue to compete in the Asian Le Mans Series.
