8h07m The #14 Kolles Audi R10 is in the pits and Manuel Rodrigues climbs out of the car. This car is down in 18th place in the classification.
8h08m In LM P2, the Strakka Racing #42 HPD enjoys a 76 second lead over the Highcroft Racing #26. The #35 Oak Racing Pescarolo Judd is third, but three laps down on the leader.
8h12m As we see the #25 RML Lola in the pits, it's interesting to note the pace of Marc Gene in the #1 Peugeot. He is consistently running laps in the 3m24s bracket.
8h13m The #82 Risi Competizione Ferrari F340 is back into the race after a stay of 26 minutes in the pits. This car had been leading GT2 but has dropped down to fifth place.
8h14m Gene in the #1 Peugeot is now 50 seconds behind the sixth placed #007 Lola Aston Martin and closing in at a rate of around four seconds per lap on average.
8h15m The #82 Risi Ferrari is on its way back to the pits. Apparently it is stuck in second gear and will need further attention.
8h18m The #7 Audi pits from fifth position and Allan McNish will remain in the cars. Fuel and tyres on this occasion and the Scot is away.
8h20m Marc Gene in the #1 Peugeot is now less than 30s behind the sixth placed #007 Lola Aston Martin. His pace is staggering turning laps in the 3m20s region now.
8h22m The #11 Drayson Racing Lola Judd is back in the garage with more problems. Also the #12 Rebellion Racing Lola with Marco Andretti behind the wheels is also wheeled into the garage, having hit trouble.
8h22m Marc Gene pits the #1 Peugeot from seventh position in the race. He stays in the cockpit and rejoins after taking on fuel only.
8h25m In GT2, the #64 Corvette currently driven by Olivier Beretta enjoys a 23 second lead over the #63 machine with Jan Magnussen at the wheel.
8h26m The #28 Radical has been for a spin at the Ford Chicane. Marc Rostan gets the car out of the gravel and is back underway.
8h28m The Highcroft #26 has been in for routine service. 2009 winner David Brabham remains at the controls and is off again in pursuit of the Strakka entry.
8h29m The #9 Audi is the next pit visitor with Timo Bernhard taking over the fourth-placed car.
8h31m Former GT2 leader, the #82 Risi Ferrari, remains in the garage with gearbox woes. It is now 10 laps behind the class-leading Corvettes.
8h33m Marc Gene is pushing hard in the #1 Peugeot to try and make up for that spell in the garage. His rapid pace in the 3m20s bracket is closing the gap of over a minute to the #7 Audi.
8h37m Marco Andretti is in the pits in his #12 Lola Rebellion. The American is gesticulating to his mechanics as a long stop continues.
8h38m The #12 Rebellion has been pushed back into the garage for some work around the right sidepod.
8h41m Marcel Faessler takes over the #8 Audi. The crew change front nose at this stop, which is a procedure often used by Audi to clear inlet ducts.
8h42m The #95 AF Corse Ferrari is in the pits and Toni Vilander hands over to Jean Alesi. It is third in the GT2 class, one lap down.
8h43m The leading #2 Peugeot has been in for a quick stop. Franck Montagny was almost three minutes ahead of the #4 Team Oreca car prior to the stop.
8h47m Risi Competizione has sent the #82 Ferrari back into the action. Gianmaria Bruni is however 14 laps down on the Corvettes.
8h49m The #12 Rebellion has rolled out again after a 23 minute stay in the pits. Marco Andretti is still behind the wheel of that entry.
8h53m Marc Gene is on the move once again in the recovering #1 Peugeot. Having clocked a few laps above 3m25, the Spaniard is back to rapid pace, posting 3m22 and 3m20.824s on successive laps. His last lap was the fastest of the race so far.
8h54m The leading LMP2 car is in the pits. Jonny Kane hands over the #42 Strakka Racing HPD over to Danny Watts and he goes out into the night.
8h56m Marc Gene now has the #1 Peugeot in sixth place as he continues to lap at great speed. He is less than 40 seconds behind the #7 Audi.
8h59m The GT2 leader is in the pits. Olivier Beretta stays inside the cockpit of the Corvette and rejoins the fray.
9h00m The #60 GT1 leading Matech Competition Ford GT comes in for a full service, with fuel, tyres and a driver change. It enjoys a very healthy lead.
9h01m Allan McNish rolls to the Audi #7 pits and quickly rejoins after rapid service. The car was fifth but has the #1 Peugeot closing down on it quickly.
9h02m Marc Gene's qualifying-type pace continues. He sets another new fastest lap - 3m19.6s as he bids to recover lost time.
9h04m Gene now brings the #1 into the pits. He will stay on board for another series of laps and all eyes will be on the gap to the #7 Audi as a potential battle develops for fifth place.
9h08m The LMP2 gap is closing between first and second places. The #42 Strakka Racing entry still leads, but only by 30s now from the #26 Highcroft Racing HPD.
9h09m David Brabham is at the wheel of the #26 Highcroft Racing machine and is turning very competitive laps of 3m40s.
9h11m The second place car in GT1 comes into the pits for service. Stephane Gregoire remains behind the wheel but is two laps behind the leading #60 car.
9h12m Timo Bernhard pits the #9 Audi from third position. He rejoins after a very quick stop.
9h14m Jean-Francois Yvon has suffered a crash in the #24 Oak Racing Pescarolo Judd. There is extensive damage to the front left corner of the car and the mechanics are set for a lengthy repair shift.
9h14m The #60 Ford GT1 - the class leader - has been wheeled in to the Matech garage.
9h15m The safety car has been deployed.
9h16m Mechanics are removing the front bodywork from the #60 and this looks like the Ford has a serious problem.
9h17m Bodywork is also being removed from the circuit by the marshals, but from the #24 that crashed a short time ago - the reason for this latest safety car intervention.
