5h54m The field forms up behind the safety cars and it will be interesting to see how the cars bunch up here.
5h56m The #92 Aston Martin Vantage has front end damage as the marshals remove it behind the barrier.
5h56m The marshals are taking this opportunity to give the circuit a brush where gravel has been pulled on to the track.
5h57m Into the pits comes the #7 Audi from seventh position. Dindo Capello will stay on-board for another stint.
5h58m The Audi crew is changing tyres while the safety car remains in control of the field.
5h59m The #14 Kolles Audi and the #60 Matech Ford were briefly held at the pit exit after making stops.
6h01m That delay for the #14 has put the LMP2-leading Strakka Racing HPD right on its tail. The Highcroft car is now shown a lap behind its rival.
6h03m The #64 Corvette has also been into the pits, with Emmanuel Collard handing over to Oliver Gavin. This releases the #82 Risi Competizione Ferrari into a clear lead for the time being.
6h04m Highcroft can't be happy with that split in the LMP2 battle: "We're in a different safety car pack to Strakka. Will lose us a bit of time."
6h07m The three cars at the front are all separated by safety cars. The #1 Peugeot leads with the #2 factory Peugeot behind the second safety car and the Oreca Peugeot is further back behind the third safety car as they move round at different points on the circuit.
6h08m The safety cars will release the field at the end of this lap.
6h09m Under safety car conditions, the #14 Kolles Audi has spun. Manuel Rodriguez is at the wheel and manages to get going again.
6h10m More drama at Le Mans as the LMP2-leader is in the gravel.
6h11m Nick Leventis is being slowly towed out of the gravel trap and this is a disaster for the #42 Strakka.
6h12m The marshals did recover the #42 Strakka quite quickly but he is likely to fall behind the #26 Highcroft once it stops for checks and a change of driver.
6h12m Manuel Rodriguez brings the #14 Kolles Audi into the pits with front bodywork damage. Fresh tyres are fitted but the car wil now be jacked up and wheeled into the garage while repairs are made.
6h13m Leventis is heading back to the pits in the Strakka but that could prove to be a costly off.
6h15m The #1 Peugeot finds itself battling with the #7 and #9 Audi as the field resumes after that safety car period.
6h18m In the pits we see the #73 Corvette. The lead in GT1 is handed back to the #60 Matech Competition Ford GT.
6h19m The #82 Risi Ferrari has been in for a stop with Gianmaria Bruni taking the wheel. The safety car has taken the fizzle out of the great battle with the #64 Corvette and effectively handed the Ferrari a free pitstop.
6h20m And now the #4 Oreca is in for service. Olivier Panis is staying in the cockpit and he rejoins still in third place overall.
6h22m In LMP2, the Strakka car has lost the LMP2 lead after that off behind the safety car. Jonny Kane is now at the controls and the car is around 40 seconds behind the Highcroft entry.
6h22m The next pit visitor is the #9 Audi. Mike Rockenfeller is fourth and rejoins following routine service, but now fifth as the #8 Audi sweeps by.
6h23m The #008 Signature Plus entry has been in the pits for some time. This car was tenth but is now beginning to slip down the order.
6h25m The #2 Peugeot and #8 Audi machines are in the pits. Nicolas Minassian rejoins after a very efficient stop, taking on fuel only.
6h27m The GT2 battle is back on with Jaime Melo losing out to Oliver Gavin in the Corvette on the previous lap. The pair are scrapping in 23rd and 24th overall.
6h31m Alex Wurz brings the leading #1 Peugeot into the pits. Everything seems calm and organised as it rolls back into the action.
6h35m While the three Peugeots continue to lead up front, it's all action in GT2 as Jaime Melo gets his #82 Risi Ferrari past the #64 Corvette to take over the lead.
6h36m The pair had been battling hard both before the recent safety car period and since. It will be interesting to see if Oliver Gavin can keep the #64 Corvette right there behind the Ferrari.
6h38m In GT1, the #72 Luc Alphand Adventures Corvette comes into the pits. Jerome Policand had the car running in second place, but this allows the #60 Matech Competition entry to pull into a big lead in the category.
6h44m Oliver Gavin is able to hang on to the shirt tails of the #82 Risi Competizione Ferrari as he keeps the #64 Corvette in range. The gap between the GT2 leaders is now 1.2 seconds.
6h46m Mike Rockenfeller is pushing extremely hard in the #9 Audi, as we see the leading LM P2 car, the #26 Highcroft machine, in the pits.
6h47m Marco Werner hands over control to David Brabham in the #26 Highcroft HPD and he goes out to renew the battle with the Strakka #42.
6h50m The GT2 battle is hotting up once again as Oliver Gavin closes to within 0.6 seconds of Jaime Melo. The #82 Risi Ferrari maintains the lead this time as they pass the pits.
6h52m Oliver Gavin moves the Corvette to the outside of Jaime Melo's Ferrari as the GT2 leaders battle through the second of the Mulsanne chicanes. Order unchanged so far, but you feel that a change is coming.
6h53m The #7 Audi is in the pits. Dindo Capello stays in the car and resumes in seventh place.
6h55m Now we have the #78 BMW in the pits from eighth place in the ultra-competitive GT2 category. But back on the track we have Oliver Gavin going for it again and he takes the lead in GT2.
6h56m Melo fights back immediately and retakes the lead in GT2 at the Mulsanne chicane. So now the #82 Risi Ferrari is back in the lead ahead of the #64 Corvette.
6h59m Up front the positions are unchanged and the two Audis are matching the three peugeots on pace, lap after lap, but everyone's attention is fully focused on this epic scrap for the lead in GT2 between the Ferrari and the Corvette.
