19h57m That was costly for the leader - a 3m29s lap - while Wurz is up to speed in the #1 Peugeot with a flying 3m19.826s.
19h58m Great exchange from Jeroen Bleekemolen in the beleaguered #85 Spyker car who is complaining about the handling - it's confirmed as a flat tyre and he should be able to continue after a quick pitstop.
20h01m The leader is in. #9 Audi rolls down the pitlane for service and a driver change to Mike Rockenfeller.
20h01m The #78 BMW M3 is still in the pits, where it's been for some time. Up at the front of the GT2, Richard Lietz is still leading for the #77 Ferbermayr Porsche 997 car.
20h02m Rockenfeller is down and away in the lead car and he certainly can't afford to hang about ...
20h03m However, the #1 is in the pits for an unscheduled stop for attention to some flapping bodywork.
20h04m That could be costly for the chasing Peugeot, which resumes with an ever-growing hole in the bodywork down the left sidepod.
20h06m The Audi team will be buoyed by that unscheduled stop for #1, which takes pressure off the leader and gives Allan McNish a chance to chase it for third.
20h07m Nick Leventis running strongly in the lead #42 LMP2 car, but Matthieu Lahaye, currently running in second in the #35 Pescarolo-Judd, is around ten seconds a lap faster. He's got seven laps to make up though.
20h07m McNish is himself in the pits for a change of driver to Tom Kristensen, along with fuel and tyres.
20h11m Good tussle a little down the order in GT2, as the #76 and #75 Porsche 997s are separated by just over three minutes, both lapping in the low 4m barrier.
20h15m The #008 Signature Plus Lola-Aston Martin is still garaged and falling down the order - now shown behind the LMP2-leading Strakka.
20h16m Pitstops for the #25 RML Lola HPD and the #41 Ginetta-Zytek, both in the LMP2 class. The duo are currently third and fifth on circuit, separated by the stricken #26 Highcroft HPD.
20h17m The #8 Audi with Andre Lotterer at the wheel is finding good pace at the moment in the 3m21s - faster than both the leader and the chasing Peugeot, ahead of its next stop.
20h20m Thomas Erdos rejoins in the #25 RML Lola HPD after a good stop by the team.
20h20m Audi #8 is in for service and Lotterer stays at the wheel for the next stint.
20h21m Marc Lieb talks up his team's chances this year, saying: "We have a really good chance and I hope we win it." His confidence seems justified at the moment, with his #77 Porsche 997 two laps clear of the nearest challenger, the #89 Hankook Ferrari 430.
20h23m Wurz presses on in the #1 Peugeot with a low 3m20s lap as he continues to chase the pair of leading Audis.
20h25m Now a pitstop for the lead #42 Strakka HPD, with Nick Leventis vacating the car. The team has a six lap advantage at the front and they're looking good.
20h26m The #15 Kolles Audi is off, deep in the gravel trap with Christian Bakkerud at the wheel at Indianapolis.
20h27m Bakkerud is being towed out of the gravel and hasn't really dented the front of the R10. He resumes with a spray of gravel on to the circuit.
20h28m After a long stop Karim Ojjeh rejoins in the #41 Ginetta-Zytek car.
20h29m Jonny Kane now out in the #42 Strakka HPD, and both his teammates are talking up the virtue of playing it safe and bringing the car home - "there's a long way to go and we're not counting our chickens yet," Danny Watts explains.
20h30m Bakkerud has made it back to the pits in the #15 Audi R10. Oliver Jarvis is taking over the car with the team simply brushing the remaining gravel out of the R10.
20h31m AUTOSPORT pit reporters have revealed that Nick Leventis had a puncture on his in lap, explaining why the #42 Strakka HPD seemed to be slow.
20h33m The #008 Lola Aston-Martin is shown as retired now after that earlier crunch with the barriers at the first Mulsanne chicane.
20h33m The #8 Audi has run wide in to the barrier at Arnage!
20h34m It is the typical moment at that corner as Lotterer slid in to the tyres.
20h35m The #8 is back underway but has front bodywork damage and is smoking from a tyre rub as it makes it to the pits.
20h35m Peugeot #1 is set to profit from this incident as the Audi mechanics go to work on a replacement nose section for #8.
20h36m #1 is at Arnarge and closing in on second place with the #8 still in the pits.
20h36m Thomas Erdos running well in the #25 RML Lola HPD, and he's lapping around nine seconds faster than the #35 Pescarolo-Judd - the gap is down to around two minutes now.
20h36m #1 flashes through the Ford Chicane just as the #8 is dropped from the jacks ...
20h37m #8 is away just in front of the #1 with just a few seconds between the pair!
20h38m The target is in sight for Alex Wurz in the #1, who set a rapid 1m19s on that last tour.
20h38m Wurz is cutting through the traffic and is now just a hundred metres behind the second-place car as they blast down to Mulsanne corner.
20h39m Wurz is right on the #8 and a battle is on as they steam into Indianapolis.
20h40m The battle for second flashes over the line and Wurz is right on the tail of the Audi.
20h41m The Peugeot enjoys a significant straight-line advantage and will surely be looking for a move as they blast down the Mulsanne.
20h42m Wurz sends the Peugueot into the second chicane and he is past Lotterer to take second in the #1 car.
