#8 Toyota Racing Toyota TR010 Hybrid: Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, Ryo Hirakawa

The #8 Toyota's strategy of keeping Buemi on the same tyres jumps him ahead of the BMW. He's 8s down on Kobayashi, who's told to push on his new tyres, in the #7.

All three leaders pit together again. De Vries has a moment as he goes across the gravel on pit entry before handing over to Kobayashi. Frijns takes over from van der Linde in the BMW. As expected, Buemi stays aboard the #8 Toyota.

Out front, the lead gap between De Vries in the #7 Toyota and van der Linde's #20 BMW appears to have stabilised at around 17s. Kamui Kobayashi is preparing to take over the lead car.

Interestingly, both van der Linde and Buemi in the #8 Toyota, another 6s back, are reporting brake problems.

The #29 Forestier Racing by Panis car is brought in by Oliver Gray, for gold driver Esteban Masson to take over. They had dropped to third but are in a close fight with the #343 Inter Europol car for second in LMP2. Tom Dillmann still leads the way in the #43 Inter Europol car, 21s clear.

The #58 Garage 59 McLaren has entered... its garage. Finn Gehrsitz was running down in 13th in LMGT3, four laps down

Robert Kubica brings in the #83 Ferrari from fifth place and hands over to Yifei Ye. They're still on the lead lap but it would take something dramatic at this stage if they're to repeat last year's victory. The 499P just hasn't had the ultimate pace this year.

Third-placed Buemi's Toyota team are considering keeping him on his current set of tyres - which have already done 20-odd laps - to the end of the race. It would gain track position but could be a risky move, especially in the afternoon's high temperatures.

Also in LMGT3, the #88 Mustang joins its sister car on the retirement list with a wheel issue.

Nearly two minutes further back, and with Clemens Schmid (#87 Lexus) between them, Alessio Rovera in the #21 Ferrari jumps Charlie Eastwood's #34 Corvette for fifth in LMGT3 in the pits as they both stop together.

Hadrien David in the #78 Lexus passes Jonny Adam's #23 Aston Martin for second in the GT class. He's 5s behind class leader Jonny Edgar in the #33 Corvette.

The Toyotas' tyre offset means it's Buemi's turn to gain in the #8 car. He's now only 6s down on van der Linde in the #20 BMW, who in turn is 16s behind De Vries's leading #7 Toyota.

Stevens in the #12 Cadillac briefly takes the lead in the pitstop sequence before pitting a couple of laps later. So De Vries's Toyota resumes out front, with a 17s advantage over van der Linde's BMW, who is 9s clear of Buemi's #8 Toyota.

The three leaders all come in together. Fuel only for the #7 Toyota of De Vries, whereas the #20 BMW of van der Linde gets new tyres. Buemi takes over the #8 Toyota from Hartley but keeps the tyres the New Zealander had been struggling on.

Stevens is flying in the #12 Caddy. He's just posted a 3m26.3s on the back of 26.7s the lap before. Mind you, de Vries has whirled around in a 3m26.2s, but Stevens is definitely on a charge.

It's getting closer in LMP2. Tom Dillmann in the #43 Inter Europol car is chasing down his team-mate, Reshad de Gerus in the sister #343. The gap is down to 2s.

Brendon Hartley's worried he's losing time to van der Linde in the BMW. He suggests Buemi should get back in the #8 Toyota. "I'm not sure I'm quick," he admits.

The gap between second and third is currently around the 5s mark, with the #7 Toyota another 20s up the road.

Van der Linde may be 17.5s behind the leading Toyota, but BMW M Team WRT tell him, "It's looking good." He's nibbling away at the deficit.

Will Stevens is currently the fastest man on track, aboard the #12 Cadillac. He gets it into the 3m25s for the first time as he edges away from Giovinazzi in the #51 Ferrari. But he's still nearly half a minute behind Hartley in third.

While the overall lead has suddenly stretched, it's still close in LMGT3. Jonny Edgar holds sway in the #33 TF Sport Corvette but he's being chased by Jonny Adam aboard the #23 Heart of Racing Aston Martin which is around 8s behind.

So, after that dramatic shake-up caused by the FCY coinciding with the lead cars' pitstop sequence, De Vries now leads by 21s in the #7 Toyota. Van der Linde, second in the #20 BMW, is 3s clear of Hartley in the #8 Toyota. Will Stevens is a further 30s back in the fourth-placed #12 Cadillac.

Sebastien Bourdais is confused by Ferrari's race pace.

"When I looked at the warm-up data and everything, it looked like it was going to be another Fefe party. So I just don't know how they went that fast in the warm-up and then all of a sudden they went very quiet in the race. It doesn't make any sense to me."

As a reminder, the best-placed Ferrari is currently Robert Kubica in the #83, fifth, just ahead of Antonio Giovinazzi in the #51.

Those emergency stops have cost the #7 Toyota and the #12 Cadillac time. But De Vries retains the lead after pitting because he didn't change tyres.

Sheldon van der Linde takes second in the #20 BMW, with Hartley in the #8 Toyota right behind. Van der Linde gained track position on the Toyota by not changing tyres at his last stop.

De Vries pits the #7 Toyota for an emergency stop under the FCY. He'll be back in next time around. And it's the same for the #12 Cadillac.

The fifth-placed #27 Aston Martin, which was well in contention for a podium, pulls up on the Mulsanne Straight with Zach Robicon at the wheel. Gut-wrenching for the team. And that's a full-course yellow.

Hartley pits the #8 Toyota which releases De Vries in the #7. Can he capitalise?

It's getting interesting between the Toyota drivers out front. De Vries was told Hartley would be letting him through, to make the most of his fresher tyres, but that swap hasn't happened. It seems Hartley is less keen on the idea.

A swift driver change here, with Mark Paulson back in the seat to take you to the chequered flag.

Meanwhile, an equally exciting battle is brewing is LMP2 between the two Inter Europol Orecas. De Gerus (343) is currently leading Yelloly (43)

Gary Watkins

De Vries should be quicker than Hartley right now.  The Kiwi is on three stint old rubber, while the Dutchman got new tyres at the last pitstop.

The two Toyotas are running nose to tail now, with Hartley just holding on to the lead from de Vries.

And de Vries barges past Nato at the Mulsanne corner. It's a Toyota 1-2 at the head of the field with just over three hours left on the clock

Now Nato is coming under pressure from the other Toyota of de Vries

Lead change

Brendon Hartley passes Norman Nato's Cadillac and puts the #8 Toyota in the lead at the restart

And we are racing again here at Le Mans. 3 hours and 12 minutes until the chequered flag drops
