Rick Kelly takes Adelaide race 2
Reigning V8 Supercar champion Rick Kelly led home a Kelly 1-2 after leading home brother Todd in race two of the Clipsal 500 in the Adelaide Parklands
The duo ran 1-2 for almost the entire race, Todd leading the first six laps before brother Rick made an easy pass at the hairpin on lap seven.
Todd moved back ahead during the fuel stops, although Rick remained close behind, with a flying James Courtney a few seconds further back, having recovered from another poor start which left him tenth after lap one. A late safety car period set up a 12 lap shootout to the finish.
With 11 laps remaining, the rear of Todd's car twitched into turn seven, which was enough for Rick to sneak through and take the win. Meanwhile Courtney's charge faded, just holding off teammate Russell Ingall to the flag, with Jamie Whincup and Steven Johnson close behind.
After a struggle in race one, Mark Skaife had a better race two, steadily making his way up the order to finish seventh. Meanwhile, Craig Lowndes had another struggle, not helped when he went down the escape road on lap 20 and dropped to 23rd, eventually recovering to 11th by the end of the race.
One place ahead of Lowndes was Garth Tander, who was running third and looked set for a top three finish until he made slight contact with Todd Kelly in pit lane, the ensuing drive-through penalty dropping him to eleventh, only moving one place further up the order by the chequered flag.
With one round completed, Todd Kelly leads the championship on 66 points, 10 ahead of brother Rick, with James Courtney three points further back. Last year's championship runner-up Craig Lowndes sits in 13th place on 15 points.
