Lowndes wins race 3

Craig Lowndes continued his strong run this weekend by winning race three of the SkyCity V8 Supercar Triple Crown at Hidden Valley Raceway

Lowndes took the lead at half-distance when early race leader Jason Richards made his compulsory pit-stop, and never looked back. The win along with his earlier fourth and third places gave Lowndes the round victory.

Jason Richards drove a great race to second place, having taken the lead by lap five after starting sixth. He led until his pit stop, and matched Lowndes in the closing laps but was unable to get close enough to worry the Ford driver.

Garth Tander completed the top three, though he was nearly twenty second behind Lowndes at the end of the race. Race two winner Jason Bright and Rick Kelly completed the top five. Tander and Rick Kelly scored equal second best points for the round.

After Mark Skaife's disastrous race two, a decent grid slot thanks to his race one win allowed him to take sixth place.

Steven Richards was the driver to suffer most in race three, finishing 28th after brake problems following a drive-through penalty in race two.

Garth Tander's consistent finishes over the weekend keep him at the head of the points standing, just eight points ahead of Craig Lowndes with Rick Kelly just five points behind Lowndes.

Russell Ingall moves up to fourth but is 122 points behind Tander, eleven points ahead of Mark Winterbottom. Steven Richards's problems in races two and three drop him from fourth to sixth, nearly 200 points off the lead.
