Oliver Webb seals Signatech Alpine European Le Mans Series drive

The 22-year-old Briton is making the move with the French LMP2 team after undertaking a handful of GT outings last year and then racing a prototype for the first time in this year's Daytona 24 Hours in January.

Webb will drive Signatech's Alpine-badged ORECA-Nissan 03 LMP2 in the five-round ELMS and at the Le Mans 24 Hours in June with reigning ELMS co-champion Nelson Panciatici and Paul-Loup Chatin.

Webb, who made his LMP2 debut in an OAK Morgan-Nissan LMP2 at Daytona, said: "Alpine has great history and Signatech has a great track record, so I am very excited to be joining them for this season.

"The OAK thing came up at the last minute, but my priority was always this deal and I made that clear to them."

Webb explained that he has aspirations to race in the World Endurance Championship in the future.

"It would have been nice to move straight into the WEC, but it is probably more sensible to find my feet with the championship-winning team in the ELMS," he said.

"Hopefully Alpine will push me in the direction of the WEC for next year."

Webb stated that he was unlikely to race in single-seaters again, but did not rule out a one-off return to FR3.5 in Monaco.

"I'm pretty sure I'm done with single-seaters, but there is a small chance that I will do Monaco because one of my sponsors is based there," he revealed.

Panciatici is staying with Signatech for a second season, while 22-year-old Chatin moves up from his role of Alpine junior driver after winning the LMPC one-make prototype class in last year's ELMS.
