Racing review: All the results
AUTOSPORT brings you the definitive who won what, and where, round-up from throughout the racing world last weekend
Not so long ago, bets were being taken on whether Sebastien Loeb would win every single round of this year's World Rally Championship, but after Ford's fourth consecutive win, he faces a real fight to retain his title. Mikko Hirvonen came out on top on his home ground in a straight fight with the French legend, giving the Finn a slightly bigger points lead and a massive confidence boost.
In America, the weather did its best to spoil the weekend, with weepers and rain intervening at both the IndyCar and NASCAR events. But when the track died, the IndyCar Series produced its finest race of the season at Kentucky as the technical changes made to improve the racing succeeded at the first attempt.
There was another turnaround at Oschersleben, as DTM champion Timo Scheider took the first win of his title defence in dominant fashion. At the same event Formula 3 Euro Series title rivals Jules Bianchi and Christian Vietoris claimed a win apiece - although while Bianchi's success was a case of business as usual, Vietoris' bizarre Sunday win came as 21 of the 23 finishers were penalised for yellow flag infringements.
And a week after he impressed the Formula 1 fraternity in Hungary, Jaime Alguersuari proved that flitting from series to series is no problem for him by claiming his first Formula Renault 3.5 victory in Portugal.
